Tallinn Music Week: Musicity

Powered by Telliskivi Creative City, Viru Keskus and Interior Architecture Department of the Estonian Academy ofArts.

As part of the Tallinn Music Week 2016 three soft-scaped architectural forms were installed in the city. These piece used algorithmic designs which were then rendered in local CNC machined wood and treated in an oil commonly found in rural areas of Estonia. Created by the students of the Interior Architecture Department of the Estonian Academy of Arts in cooperation with the architecture practice PART, the installations marked the festival’s urban axis from Musumägi (Kissing Hill) and Nunne Street in old town to Telliskivi CreativeCity.  3 unique site specific soundtracks were commissioned and created featuring field recordings of Tallinn locations, archive material and manipulated sounds, forming a compelling aural description of the city. These were created by steve hellier in collaboration with Tallinn DJ Aivar Tõnso, DJ Nick Luscombe and made possible by Musicity global.
